Water sports inspired with connection to boat rowing, water wind sailing, yacht elegance, gym rigidity and fluidity, boat sails and connections.
Hotel guest inspired - I looked at their luggage broke down the handle and the wheels, and looked at yacht dock for rigidity.
The first model I would like to see different materials to represent the different elements - the sails (styrofoam?)
ReplyDeleteThe second model is the weakest - these three intertwine pieces of paper are the same width, same material and there is no hierarchy - water taxi vs water sports?
The third motel - hotel guest (spelling) is the most successful.
I would like to see the first two reworked for Monday.

Delete-For the second model the intertwining elements are not paper, and not all the same width. However the blue and yellow are the same hard plastic material where as the green is a soft form material.
Because there was some misunderstanding with the materials, would I still have to do them over for Monday?
Your previous models were somewhat more satisfying. Prof. Jill is correct, whether or not the materials are different or varying in size, either the models are not reading, or the presentation (read: photography) is lacking the ability to convey the intent. The hierarchy just does not reveal itself.
ReplyDeleteAlthough you are employing organic form in the non-orthogonal geometry, there is little complexity in the assemblages. Materiality will help this. It is not a representational question of what material is better, but rather a variety of textures, colors and scales of materials. Think tectonics, not translational symbolism. Again, evoke an emotion, a feeling, a visceral spark...form and photo-realistic representation will follow later. Cart, Horse
