My impression of my site (Pier 57, Manhattan) was that the building was old, run down, and not in use. Additionally, surrounding it was remnants of old docks, so I assumed that it had a boat life at one point in time.
There is a quality to this collage that seems to capture the emotion of the space, while at the same time being evocative of form. The tectonic quality is evident, whether intentional or not. The caption is superfluous, which is indicative of a good collage.
This is a good indication of site specific existing conditions. Let the collage speak for itself and try your best to convey your feelings and evoke the same in the viewer, without words. These could be best conveyed in a presentation after showing this slide for people to absorb, make their own personal analysis, then after taking a breath, explaining your thoughts so that you are gradually leading them toward meet your same conclusions for your design.
